Learning Resources & Infrastructure at WUD

The World University of Design (WUD) provides a comprehensive learning environment designed specifically to support creative education, research, and professional practice. The university’s infrastructure is purpose-built to enable studio-based learning, experimentation, collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement across design, architecture, fashion, visual arts, performing arts and emerging creative technologies.

WUD’s infrastructure is its learning enabler. It’s treated as an integral part of pedagogy. Learning resources are continuously updated and aligned with academic needs, emerging practices, and industry standards.

Studios, Workshops and Laboratories

WUD’s philosophy of “learning by doing” comes alive in its workshops and laboratories, which are equipped to meet the needs of every design discipline. Architecture & Interior Design students have dedicated model-making workshops, CAD studios, and advanced laser cutting and 3D printing tools. Product & Industrial Design is supported by a fully functional machine shop, hand and power tools, and a state-of-the-art Makers’ Lab with the latest prototyping technologies. Fashion Design students work in professional-grade patternmaking, garment construction, draping workshops and CLO3D studios. Textile design students have weaving, dyeing & printing labs. Communication & Media Design enjoys industry-standard digital and media labs, professional photography and print-making studios, as well as AV, sound, and video editing suites.

Digital & Technology Resources

WUD offers access to advanced digital tools and technologies such as Digital design and visualization labs; Animation, VFX, and game development facilities; Photography and film studios; Editing, sound, and post-production suites; access to industry-standard software and digital platforms. The whole campus is digitally equipped and everyone has his/her own laptop. Studios and labs run on cutting-edge hardware and a variety of software, including Alias, Rhino, AutoCAD, CATIA, Revit, SolidWorks, and more. High-bandwidth Wi-Fi blankets the entire campus, with cloud-based collaboration tools enabling smooth workflow between faculty and students.

Library & Knowledge Resources

At WUD, the newly inaugurated library, housed in the MP Ranjan block, with its serene reading room and collaborative study spaces, is a hub for research and inspiration. Library resources include physical/digital books and reference materials in design, architecture, fashion, arts, and culture; Academic journals and digital databases; Research reports, case studies, and visual archives.

Many school hosts their own Material Museum offering a tactile, “touch-and-feel” archive of textiles, embroideries, building materials, finishes, surfaces, fittings, and plumbing systems—providing a real-world resource for fashion & textile designers on one hand to architects, interior designers, and product innovators on the other.

Performance, Exhibition & Presentation Spaces

Creative disciplines require spaces for display, performance and public engagement. WUD provides multiple venues for showcasing student and faculty work including an art gallery, exhibition spaces, performance and rehearsal spaces; screening rooms and amphitheater; and open forums for talks, reviews, and critiques.

Research & Advanced Learning

At WUD is supported through access to studios, labs, and shared resources used by faculty and doctoral scholars. Research infrastructure is shared across schools to encourage cross-disciplinary inquiry.

Student Support & Shared Learning Spaces

Beyond specialised facilities, WUD provides multiple shared spaces that support informal learning, collaboration, and campus life. Such spaces foster peer learning and interdisciplinary exchange.

Campus Environment

The WUD campus supports a “learning without walls” philosophy, allowing students to move easily between studios, workshops, performance spaces, and academic areas. It’s designed as a creative learning environment rather than a conventional academic campus. Open layouts, shared spaces, and proximity between disciplines encourage interaction and collaboration.

Safety, Accessibility & Sustainability

WUD is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and accessible campus environment. Infrastructure planning considers safety norms, accessibility requirements, and sustainable practices appropriate to a creative university setting.
